Culture wars.

Postby Workingman » 03 Nov 2023, 21:13

A poll carried out by King's College London and Ipsos shows that almost two thirds of us think that politicians (and others) use different "cultures" (colour, ethnicity, gender) to divide and rule and to deflect from other more serious issues of the day.

Was it ever otherwise?

Then there is the flip side of "inclusivity and diversity" - we are all the same - and all politicians, the media and advertisers are involved.

Look at any image to a general article on any subject on websites or the papers and magazines and it will be of a female. It is also more often than not an ethnic female.

If you watch TV tonight and you will see loads of multi-culti families or "diverse" groups of besties.

Sorry folks, but there are so many cultural and religious divisions between us for the "woke" dream to come to pass.

Woke" is now used a term of derision, and rightly so.

Go to other countries or continents and see their take on things. Loads of different minority peoples in their ads - not a chance

The march by the Hamas fans on the 11th of November has the potential to cause great upset. But yes, the "We're all very very diverse - and so VERY happy!" adverts; I just have a wry smile and think "As if!".

Can you imagine, and it would have to be imaginary, any pro non-Islamic protests (Christian, Jain. Buddhist etc.) even being allowed in the likes of Islamabad, Riyadh, Tehran, Baku, Amman, Damascus or any other "Islamic" capital?

They would be ruthlessly and violently crushed before they even began.

We in the UK are so tolerant that we are weak. We should ban any protests on Armistice Day and arrest any attendees, all of them.

The current war is not of our doing, nor our problem.

I am not anti Palestinian by any means, They do have their grievances, especially in the West Bank and Jerusalem, but please don't bring them to the streets of the UK where you have been welcomed and integrated.

Religion, history and geopolitics are your enemies. If you have a problem go back and fight.

When they applied for the protest to take place they should have been informed that the Armistice Day commemorations were being held on that date and that police resources were already stretched and could not police two large events on the same day. Not sure where the blame lies for allowing both events to take place at the same time.

They should have been banned. The blame lies with the woke clementines who are now in charge. Virtual signalers and group thinkers.

The Armistice events are in remembrance of the end of a war - peace. They are not in any way a celebration of victory.

Today we had a perfect example of a politician using a "culture war" tactic when the deputy PM, Oliver Dowden, said that "activists" (whoever they are) need to show 'Jewish lives matter' like BLM.

This will only serve to inflame an already precarious situation. Yes, 1,400 Jews died in the Hamas attack on Israel. However, it is bloody obvious that Palestinian supporters will point out that nearly 10,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli reprisals and they will let it be known, possibly in violent ways, that Palestinian lives also matter.

What Dowden said is essentially true, but there are times when it is wiser not to say anything or to say things in a less antagonistic way. Mind you at present it is important for Ministers to say nothing about the revelations being made in the Covid inquiry so they bring this up, or tents and rough sleepers, or bigging up the King's Speech on Tuesday, or Rishi and Elon's 'conversation'; anything to deflect.

The only exception to that WM is that we only have Hamas' word that 10,000 have died. It is not independently verified and Hamas have been caught lying about death before. Like the hospital tragedy where around 50 people sleeping in the car park were killed when a Hamas misfire landed there.

Hamas immediately claimed 500 dead. Before it was even possible to assess the likely dead.

We may find out when Israel completes the cut off for Northern Gaza, that less than 50% have died.

As for counting those murdered in peace time whilst observing a religious holiday (the second time Arab Muslims have done this to Israel), compared to those who die in a war zone after having been told for 20 days to evacuated? For me if it was 100 to 1 the message might be too subtle to understood.

Those who understand Binary and those who do not.
