That must get a bit wearing Jan.

We've been to Pontefract castle this morning. Or what's left of it. Oliver Cromwell's mob did a demolition job on it after the Civil War.
Just above a sally port* (love that name!) you can see when three cannon balls struck the castle wall. This was in 1645, when over a period of five days the Roundhead forces fired 1400 cannon balls at the Cavaliers inside the walls.

This was during the second seige of the castle, there were three in all. The Roundheads set up shop in Pontefract's market square and proceeded to let rip with artillery at the castle, just down the road.

Pontefract castle is also the place where King Richard the second came to a sticky end.

* The phrase sally port is still used today in the USA, it means an entry or exit into a fortified place like a jail.

just had an uptick on Facebook from Mick Avory.
Who is he? He was the drummer in the Kinks.
It made me smile!

I do love the Kinks.

I had a like on Twitter at the weekend from Clem Burke (Blondie drummer). I saved a screenshot of it

We have an unwelcome visitor

And he won't go away

A small dog has wandered in through the fence from somewhere and although I keep chasing it away, it keeps coming back

Been in touch with a few friends and they're asking around. Also the local dog kennel owner, who will come up+ tomorrow and take it away if it's still here.

Molly in unfazed, as it obviously can't join her in her chair

He sat under the car Kaz, keeping out of the way.

Checked him late last night, but gone this morning.

He had a collar, but no tag, super friendly.

But we do not want a dog.

Gez will come up next time, if he appears again, but I doubt it.
