Just had notification for the new car tax to be paid next month.

We knew it would be about 600€, but it's 698.47

It’s the other way round here Jan, up to £150-ish for tax per year but insurance is the one that stings

The insurance is brilliant.

As standard, we get window replacement , car hire - normally about three days - transport to where ever you need to go in case of breakdown. Ria was even taken by taxi, for nowt, when we broke down on the motorway, We were asked where we wanted to take the car.

All third party. Not normal to have the more expensive stuff on older cars.

I have just renewed my road tax. £170 for a year. It is a Toyota Auris hybrid.

The insurance is due tat the end os August. Cheapest I can get for fully comp is just over £1100. The price increases becauseof my age.

They are saying that car insurance renewals have gone up by at least 30% since last March alone. We'll know soon enough, ours is due in September.

On a brighter note, I've just been notified by the AA that they overcharged us last year (actual reason not specified) and we'll be getting a refund of £23. Every little helps ....
