Hello all

Well still wild and windy here; but thankfully no damage anywhere. One of the compost bins on my allotment has lost its lid, but that's about the worst so I'm really lucky; know there are so many out there who have had endless damage.
I'm sitting at my computer and watching the starlings fly in to feed at the feeder, quite comical when they're grabbed by a gust of wind. They remind me of the videos when planes come in to land during windy weather

Definitely a day for staying in, although I do have to pop out to drop off a parcel at the post office today. Was meant to go Friday but just couldn't face going out then and if I don't go today I lose money. So hoping the wind dies down this afternoon

Been a glorious day, five buckets of weeds for the donkeys later, I have back ache, so heading for the shower.

Jan is taking me vacuum shopping later this week. No point Grumpy coming down, he would buy the first one he saw We'll do Aldi, Lidl and Tesco too And C & A

Might pop down for a beer or three before the curry.

Still windy here but nothing like last night when the wind was absolutely howling; it was so loud.
At least it is sunny atm, it seems to have been raining for days so that's a nice change.
I have taken MrsC, our daughter and Eliza into town and out again.
We will be having Eliza all day tomorrow, we need to think of something to occupy her.

Good afternoon all.

Well, the latest storm caused further fence damage this morning, unfortunately between us and the Town Council's land, so I had to contact them to report that the fence panels were blocking the dog walker's path.
They had two guys on the scene fairly rapidly to assess it, and they moved the fallen panels to one side to clear the pathway.
I then had to go attend to some hanging barbed wire which had come loose, which proved more difficult to deal with than I thought, but I got the worst off and made the rest as secure as I could.
My mate Andy will come and assess the latest damage tomorrow, but I think I ought to be looking to replace the whole back fence professionally now; at a cost of a few '000s I suspect, and of course on an unknown timescale.
First priority needs to be securing the property which is now open at the back.

The Ostrich,
I replaced some old wooden fence panels with plastic ones at the front a few years ago.
These come in sections so you can make them as tall as you want. There is not much difference in price, They come in different shades.
I have them in light oak. So no more painting. THey get washed every time it rains. Have to wsh bird muck off.
Should last me. THe firm who are in Bury, Lancashire delivered free as the order was aboe a certain amount.

Hi Cruiser, many thanks for that. I am aware of them; my Sister in Birmingham has them. I'm not ruling them out but would have to take advice.

I would have to check where I might stand with the Town Council on them; the property at the back is theirs. They would not be in keeping with the local ambience, if you see what I mean.
I'm not ruling them out, but I'd have to ensure I don't ruffle feathers, if you see what I mean.

Hope it’s not too costly Ossie. We paid around £600 around 3 years ago for 7 6ft panels, concrete posts and gravel boards which was really reasonable and they did an excellent job. We’re lucky in that it’s the only fencing we have, the rest is a 6ft brick wall along the side and around the bottom of the garden with a gate in it and then it joins the garage side wall.
