Freedom Day - how was it for you?

Postby TheOstrich » 19 Jul 2021, 20:17

Well, I can confidently report that during our walk out today:

Number of folk seen wearing masks - 0 (100%)
Number of people not wearing masks - 0 (100%)

Yes, we did a 1/2 mile walk and encountered not a single person! Only Mad Dogs and Ostriches go out in the Midday Sun .....

No freedom day here, numbers are rising.

Masks still very much compulsory and I won't be getting rid of it for a while either.

I didn't go into town, but I did go to the big Next down near the Quays, with Em, for a mooch and then a cuppa in their Costa concession. Then we went into the Iceland Food Warehouse next door. Everyone had a mask on, it was exactly the same as before.

There was a "Freedumb Day"? Well shock me, nothing much changed here; masks, empty buses, people doing the social distance thing at the pub - all fairly 'new' normal..

Mind you, give it a week or two.....

Went to work and came home, no different.

Today I am shopping so I will go to Morrisons without a mask. I hate them in shops. My glasses steam up, I cant see anything, I take them off, I cant see anything. I will keep my distance, I will be respectful, but I will not wear a mask

I went shopping to Sainsbury's first thing and I'd say about 98% of the people were wearing masks, including me - social distancing also still going on. I think it'll stay like that for a good while

Not much difference. Mainly we stayed inside in the shade, it was too hot to be out for long.
Besides that, generally depressed. The news about vaccine passports is bad imo, I had to turn the news off.
I don't think we'll ever be allowed to have our old lives back. "Freedom day"? Not really.

I’m surprised that not much has changed. When we came out of lockdown, masks were off, 2m’s was the joke not the rule. Admittedly we have not seen nor experienced anything like you guys have and our lockdown was too short to change habits.

Now masks are compulsory on public transport, but that’s it.

Oh and we have just popped out travel bubble with Australia as they can’t seem to get their case numbers down and it’s growing, so it’s got an 8 week pause now for review later. So far we are still covid free.
Everything happens for a reason
