Goodbye, old friend .....

Postby TheOstrich » 30 Jun 2021, 18:30

I've had to finally retire my old, light-blue, single-use facemask today. It's been my faithful companion for the last 15 months .....

It was extremely fluffy and falling to bits. Things ain't built to last these days.

I know I bought another one a year back last March. I wonder where I've stored it .... :|

How many face masks have you got?

Couple of packs of two from Wilko - about £2 per pack.

Wash and wear jobs, they hang on the car vents for use in shops etc as per the rules.

So many others don't bother, so a bit of a waste of time.

I have a cloth one. I use it every day, wash it under the hot tap with anti-bac as soon as I get home, and it dries overnight. I put it on as soon as I get near the outskirts of the city, and it stays on until I leave.

I've got loads, I am always losing them. I have them in my handbag, my shopping bag, my car, my pockets. Tim says I'm like a child with dummies

As we've had compulsory mask wearing since July 15 last year until last Friday I built up a nice wee collection of funky and fun masks very quickly very early on.

Until the reality of wearing cloth masks in our never ending heat was a no no.

Cue a pack of ten 'disposable' ones for two euros. Ker ching.

My sis reckons the amount of cloth masks I've accumulated she could make me a mini skirt.
And funnily enough she's getting a new sewing machine delivered this Friday.

Watch this space.....

I made about half a dozen fabric ones right at the start of the first lockdown which hang on my keys rack in the hall, ready to pick up as you go out but we both have a pack of disposable ones in our cars which are used once then thrown away and obv we have same at work which we wear all day.

Ozzie

Ossie

I bought a sewing machine last Summer and I’ve made myself a selection of masks so that I always have some clean ones.

I hate them though, the fact that they’re in pretty fabric makes no difference. It goes on as I walk towards whichever shop I want to go to and it’s off the second I leave.

We only use disposable masks, as most places insist on them, rather than the cloth one's.

We get given a pack of ten, every now and then, from Pingo. Tend to wear them half a dozen times, then dispose of them. Get a bit hot and sweaty, then they're not good.

I have two in my handbag and four in the car, always.

Have two of the face shields in the car and two in the house. Got them so always had one with us when I went out with my wife before she died.
Have a packet of the blue one but do not use them. Bought them soon after lock down started.
Have also bought some cloth ones which have been made by a local lady who does dressmaking. Usually keep one in my coat pocket and shopping
bag. Have washed them several times and they still seem OK.
I will still wear mine even if others don't.
