Views of your house

Postby Ally » 08 Apr 2013, 10:06

Just been talking to my neighbour and he was telling me over the weekend him and his son 'google earthed' his house and he said it was amazing what your house looks like from above.

Has anyone ever done this?

I'm going to do mine when I get home later.

I have but when I last checked our house wasn't built, you could see the close had been marked out though. Street View was slightly more up to date with the foundations built

I have done it using Google maps and zooming right in, it's pretty weird.

I have also 'visited' previous places I have lived such as my childhood home and the first house I bought. I was amazed at how much things haven't changed as much as I thought they would have.

I have used Google Earth a lot.
Street View is good as it shows all the details.
My OH is shown on mine taking something out
of the boot of the car.
I have been nosy and looked at most friends and
relations houses :D :D

I love Google Earth.

We use it before booking a holiday cottage! We look to see what is around the house and what the walk to the nearest pub is like.

I didn't book one cottage because of what I saw on Google Earth - cottage looked lovely but the walk to the pub was just over a mile along lanes with no pavements. Not ideal with a dog and two children (and a drunk in charge mother).

I've done it with google Earth but it is not always good quality. For our Scottish home we got green fields.

Bing Maps tends to provide lower pass higher resolution images for looking at your home.

As we spent a lot of time looking at the plans for the house we weren't particularly surprised when we saw the Aerial view. It's good though.

Not only googled it but I'm ON it!!!  I clearly remember the day I was walking to work and saw this funny looking vehicle with a massive 'thing' on top of it driving in and out of the cul de sacs on our estate. I could have died when I went to look for my house on Street View

I have looked for all the houses I have lived in as well - and Debbie I do the same as you re cottages!!
