Goodness knows what rubbish I was buying before but I have not bought any clothing, a bottle of spirits last the week, and then there is fuel ... I never realised how easy it is to get through a fiver or more on bits and pieces when you are out and about, but with lockdown I just go out for walks with a bottle of tap water for company. 8-)

It’s swings and roundabouts here. Although we’ve not been going out to spend money, the spend on food shopping has increased by around £30-£40 per week. Normally I cook extra when making dinner if we’re having pasta or a rice meal and John takes that for his lunch, Joe takes a version of it and Tom would buy something, then every two weeks there’d just be the two of us from Friday until Sunday night because Tom and Joe would both be away, and quite often there’d just be two or three of us for dinner on a weeknight too. The situation now is that we’re all home pretty much 24/7. One loaf would’ve lasted us for a week whereas now we’re going through four or five, and of course that means extra butter and cheese, meat etc for on the sandwiches. Three cartons of milk has turned into five. We’re going through teabags and coffee at speed, and fresh fruit doesn’t hang around for long.

Jo, same! What we've saved on eating out, I've spent on the extra food needed  My weekly food shop is horrendous - I need Greg Wallace and his oppo from Eat Well For Less :P ;)

I suppose being retired and living alone has helped, and where I used to get out most days I am now only getting a walk in the cemetery across the road - not much to spend there.

I am also only eating two meals a day and my only snacking is on fruit and nuts (not the chocolate bar).... loads of! :cute: :cute: :cute:

Kaz, I just went through the whole damned thing again and it needs archiving for posterity.

The number of things we ordinary bunch of people got right is amazing! It is so prescient, as you say, that some will think that it was written after the event. 8-)
