Stupid ebay seller

Postby debih » 04 Apr 2013, 13:46

I just bought a body protector from ebay (for S - for riding).

Brand new they are upwards of £90. I was looking to spend around £20 on one.

I saw one yesterday that was perfect and had no bids on it, with a starting bid of £5. It didn't mention postage - just collection. Most people selling them charge around £5 for postage so I emailed the seller before I placed a bid to ask if she would consider posting and if so, how much and mentioned that the average post price seems to be £5.

Her reply was ridiculous. She said that she wanted to get around £15 for the body protector so if it sold for £10 or less then she would charge £10 for postage, if it sold for £10 or more, she would charge £5. I emailed her back saying that I wasn't interested then. How ridiculous, postage is supposed to be a fair price, not a way of putting the selling price up.

I bid on another one which I won - £1.60 for the body protector and £4.50 for the postage so I'm happy with that.

The auction of the other one finished a few minutes before the one I bought - with no bids. The woman has emailed me to ask if I would be interested in it still - she would charge me £10 for the body protector and £5 for postage.

Well done Debih

We were talking about ebay earlier, as we are clearing out - and we've only been here 7 years  Grumpy suggested ebay, as we have a lot of books about the Forest of Dean - but I really don't want to sell them and use paypal, I'm just not sure about it all. The charity in Loule is getting a heck of a lot of stuff from us for the next few months - but not those books ;)

So we'll keep them instead
