and then there were three

For those non-humans who share our home

and then there were three

This is my lovely Marigold helping herself to the cats food this morning. Sadly my lovely girl was put to sleep a few hours later, as despite looking quite healthy here she was a very poorly girl.

It seems really odd being back to three red hens which is what we started with three years ago

They'll certainly be extra plentiful in my garden Lozzles

Lozzles put me on to the Omelet forum a few years ago and they are ever so helpful will all things chicken. I remembered posting this a while ago, and it is a lovely epitaph to Marigold chicken

I Think Everyone Should Have A Marigold Chicken In Their Life, is the thread title and I posted it back in 2011

That chicken just oozes happiness. She never ceases to cheer me up. I love the way she runs towards me then slams on the brakes, coming to a skidding stop on her heels, before turning round and going to fetch her latest prize to show me. Oh Marigold, how lovely a frog Oh dear, someone has stolen it off you......hey no worries, you have another one over there, oh how lovely She does so love this rain

She is just a feathered body of cheerfulness. She is just great

Ode to Marigold.

O clucky one
With feathers so bright
Much loved by Shelley
By day and by night

Mr Shell too
Of Marigold fond
It's fair to say
A definite bond

Master Shell Luke
Might ask you where
Has Marigold gone?
That's only fair

May Marigold be pecking
In frog heaven above
Knowing her life down here
Was filled with love

xxx

Both odes are lovely. May she have all her treats await her.
