If I had a vote I would have gone for Nandy.

He'll keep R L-B and Rayner on for two reasons: 1. to keep the enemy close, always a wise move and 2. because, like them or not, they are both diligent workers. Give them a brief and they will dig down and get to know it as best they can. Even those who do not share their vision of where Labour should be say that about them.

I like Rayner, and voted for her as Deputy. I believe both she and Rebecca L B are diligent and hardworking, but RLB was too much like Corbyn to win us a GE next time.

He looks to have made a decent start.

Lisa Nandy as shadow foreign secretary is a good reward.

Anneliese Dodds as shadow chancellor is a canny move

Nick Thomas-Symonds as shadow home secretary is a promotion, we'll see

Nick Brown is back as chief whip

Jonathan Ashworth as shadow health secretary is OK, he keeps Hancock on his toes

Rachel Reeves as shadow chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster is a clever move. It is a sort of minister without portfolio role, which puts her at the heart of the shadow cabinet yet leaves her free to continue the excellent work she does in HoC committees.

Angela Rayner as chair of the Labour Party is also a smart move. She will put the frighteners on the anti-Semites going by her low opinion of them in the past.

Gardiner and Lavery have gone, so no loss there, and no news on the rest as yet.

Not in my book. He immediately started political point scoring over NHS pay and accused the Government of making serious mistakes in handling the crisis. Neither the time nor place at the moment.

Just saying.

Disagreeing with you there, Os. Not only is it the time and place to kick this shower up the backside, it's crucial that someone does.

Ossie, maybe I misheard him, but I thought that he was talking about things changing post the coronavirus crisis and how we treated the NHS and its staff at that time. He also said that Labour would support the government in taking stricter measures while noticing that it would be difficult for many, but that things might have to be done because we have got to get through this. Then he asked about an exit plan. All pretty sensible in my book.

Details here.

Exactly, Frank! Just watched his interview on Channel 4 News, he spoke of a meeting with Boris and working with the government to get us through this, but wanting a fairer society afterwards, especially for those key workers pulling us all through this horror. Good man.

Kaz, I am a bit confused as to what he could have done much differently. I know that he could never please everyone, but most wanted a change from Corbynism and he looks to have started that. RLB will slot in somewhere, but what he does with Abbott, Burgon and Butler is the next big interest for me.
