Sometimes, these long-standing "gentlemen of the road" prefer not to be found …… has he disappeared before to your knowledge?

I have just had a call from the police and they have found him and he is well. They wouldn't give me too much information but they just wanted to reassure me that he is on the radar and the relevant agencies now know.

Well done to them for taking the time out to help.... it's a weight off.

Hi WM, glad to hear that.

I found that both Simon on the Streets and St George's Crypt are helping to get the homeless off the street as well as Leeds council. I wonder if it was one of the first two who helped?

I was going to suggest the charities but spent an hour with my son and you found him first.

Suff, St George's is in the city centre and he can't get there - see my earlier on bus travel. Simon's does great work but with limited resources they tend to go to known hot-spots. J is in a cemetery in a leafy suburb about 6 miles out, so he would be easy to miss on any sweep.

I can't be sure, but maybe my call gave control the nod to the local policing team who stumbled upon him in another place. Asda now has queues stretching round the car park and the way in passes where he normally sits. He might have found it a bit intimidating or maybe he was getting abused, that would not surprise me.

At least I know that he is safe.

You missed the part where you cared enough to make sure he was safe. Well done.
