You couldn't make it up.

The PM, the Health Minister and the Chief Medial Officer have all gone down with Covid-19.

They have all been out meeting and greeting, much more so than us ordinary folk, they have been in Cabinet and wandering about the rabbit warren that is No 10. Their cabinet colleagues and their staff must be extremely worried.

Let's hope they all pull through and have not passed it on.

Well, Dominic Cummings hasn't got it yet. I doubt the virus would dare!

He was shown on the very early morning news running, yes really running, away from Downing Street and out the back gate.

There was not so much as a backwards glance, it was a case of "I'm outta here...!"

Well look on the bright side, at least this will put the kibosh on the nightly briefings!

Think about it strategically.

Our PM and Health minister will, potentially, in 7-14 days, be fully able to work, collaborate and visit anyone in the country or the world.

Or they'll die.

Strategically it is brilliant. Was it a risk taken with eyes wide open? Because there is no faster way for our government to get back on its feet than to have the virus and recover.

Just to say something which is not being discussed at all.

All the other leaders and heads of state are in semi hiding. There may come a time when the reality of what happened here is revealed. I will be very interested when it does.

It might not be being discussed by them, and certainly there is a dead silence in the media about it.
But many many people are angry about this.
What is the economic system going to look like afterwards?
Atm we have a system of globalism. Manufacture in the developing world, import to the first world. A globalised world. People and goods moving freely.
Unfortunately it's not only people and goods that move quickly around the world - so does disease.
So what next? The Chinese will be desperate - absolutely desperate - to try and get back to business as usual. So I think will western big business. They have a lot of money tied up in the way things are. So maybe will a lot of world leaders (Trump excepted, who will try and use this as leverage in trade talks).
Expect to see a lot of "You can't blame the Chinese for this, it's Boris Johnson's/Donald Trump's fault for not preparing for it". Which to me is classic white middle class British liberal rubbish, ignoring as it does Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden etc.

Just one thing. If things do revert to normality, and this happens again - what then? All the self blame and righteous liberalism isn't going to calm things down then.

I am certainly hoping we will see a sea-change in global politics and economics. We don't need vast container ships full of Chinese tat being shipped half way round the world. We don't need increasingly more exotic holidays and voyages on packed airplanes and cruise liners. We do need to see what we can do as a country to become more self reliant. Perhaps we do need to overturn the current world order. Perhaps we need to be more radical. Perhaps we will start living in interesting times ….

But ultimately, whether we will see any of these things or not, who knows?
