Is it right for Boris to "resist" being interviewed by Andrew Neil?

And is it right that Andrew Neil should "insist" that Boris faces him?

There is a dog and a tail being wagged here, but I'm not sure which is which!

Boris has every right to tell Neil to go do one as there is no law saying he has to attend.

Having said that it is the politically inept thing to do, but that's the bumbling oaf, Boris, for you. Everyone knows that Neil is an out-and-out Conservative and would likely give Bozo the easiest of rides compared to the other leaders.

As for the tail and dog thing it has to be Domineeric Cummings wagging Bozo the puppy dog.

Not that I am too much bothered. I have stayed away from the interviews and debates nonsense and have given up on print and broadcast news since the deflection was announced.

I am not in favour of these debates.
Waste of time.
They seem to exist to boost the egos of political journalists, mainly.
I've not watched the national news for months, haven't watched these debates, gave up on Question Time years since.
If I slept through it all now I couldn't care less.

It comes down to whether Boris needs the exposure and whether it will change people's minds if he does not have one.

For instance they keep bleating on about chlorine washed chicken. The stats are a bit of a mess but it is clear that, per capita, the UK has 2.5 times as many people dying of campobylacter than the US.

On salmonella it is somewhat different. The UK has nearly twice as many reported infections per. Capita, but no deaths. If you stitch the two figures together, per capita, the UK has more deaths from campobylacter than the US has for both. This is probably also skewed by the fact that the NHS will save some people that the US system does not, due to the cost of US health are and that some cannot/do not take insurance.

On the other hand the very mild dilute solution containing a small % of chlorine has been linked to no deaths and no health issues.

Which begs the question as to why we do not add to our own hygiene with a mild chlorine solution wash?

But it is bad you know and there will be no discussion on that, the press has said it and that is that.

This is my problem with the whole thing and, in general, I find most of it insulting to my intelligence. So I ignore it.

I haven't bothered watching these "debates" either, I'd only finish up hurling the remote at the screen ….

Thankfully (apart from a never-ending stream of Liberal Democratic flyers through the door) the electioneering has largely passed us by.

I had this weird idea that it's a general election and should be about governing the country and sorting out the problems within it.

But no. It is turning out to be about that one other, unmentionable, subject, and that is wrong: so wrong.

MRLP for me, if they put up a candidate, or possibly NOTA. Whatever my choice it will be for ABB - Anyone But Boris. If that means Labour (then for my very first time) I will hold my nose and do it.

This will be, to the best of my recollection, the first general election in which I've taken a conscious decision simply not to vote …..

I have avoided all the debates as I have long lost interest in all the political posturing. I now think of politicians in the same way as I think of doctors, that first they should do no harm. Who is likely to 'do harm' to me at my stage of life. I am on a small pension with a small occupational income and not likely to ever increase my income. So which would I prefer, a Labour government which may increase taxes on those earning as little as £14,000 year, or a Conservative government who has already increased the personal allowance to £12.500 and is likely to increase it further. I just don't believe the mantra spouted by Labour MPs that it is the 'rich' who are going to pay for all the idealogy in their manifesto. The 'rich' are no sitting ducks and they will move their money to where it can't be grasped. That leaves the rest of us to get used to tax increases, including the pensioners.

On another note, I did read a comment relating to Boris' no-show for an interview with Andrew Neil. It suggested that Boris Johnson didn't want his deal to be torn apart by Andrew Neil and it was considered less of a risk for him not to appear.

Actually Medsec the increase in the personal allowance which has benefited people like me and you, was a Lib Dem proposal. How I miss my party but like you there is no way I would risk voting Labour

I haven't seen a t debate at all after seeing the way MP behave in parliament none deserve a vote
I think an awful lot of people won't vote either
