It has stopped snowing at last. The wind is howling though.

S is sat in her bedroom looking out over the valley to see if she can see traffic moving on the lane over there - if there is no traffic moving it could mean that the road to her school is still cut off.

I have lamb in the oven and am about to finish off reading the last of my adoption papers (panel on Tuesday) before I go and plonk myself in front of the fire.

I am hoping that Mick can't get his van out so he takes my car tomorrow which means he will have to do the shopping. As I need potatoes, carrots, bread and milk I think he will be pulling it up on a sledge!

I've just had a text to say that the school is closed tomorrow due to snow drifts.

I'm hoping that the gym will be open tomorrow, I can hitch a ride down with John as he'll be going to work via the A5 and A38 rather than the scenic way through the Chase, that way I'm in the town centre and can do a bit of shopping, it's not food that I really need but there are a few birthdays in the next week that I need to buy for.

Rather perversely, it is still lightly snowing here, blowing about, but the sun is visible, hazily, through the light grey cloud. There is a very cold wind out there ......

Around midday, I scattered a fair bit of bird seed on the pathways in the garden , which are clear, and it's attracted two stoical wood pigeons and a flock of umpteen magpies, who are hopping and flying around between the fences, the trees and the garden shed.

I haven't seen any traffic moving on the lane that leads to S's school.

The A6 is clear but I don't know about any other roads around town.

I have checked on S's school website and it just says that it will be update Sunday evening.

I can't see L's school being closed tomorrow - if the A6 is open then the staff should be able to get and the majority of the children live in the village so, unless there is more snow forecast for tonight or tomorrow, I won't be making the decision to close it. Oh the power, the power.

L, Emily and Harry have been trying to bribe me with sweets all afternoon.

They keep listening in to my conversations with the head.

Tom and I have just walked Billy over the common (assisted by bike lights) and the drifts have changed dramatically since John and I were over there this morning - it was over our knees at one point.
The roads around the estate are dreadful, just solid ice.
