We got home just in the nick of time I think.
We didn't really see any "proper" snow until we got to Wirksworth - about 5 miles away from us - and the roads were all clear. We went straight through to Matlock to pick up Millie. Mum said it was a real blizzard this morning but it stopped at around 10am and then started to go slushy.
We only stayed at mums for about 10 minutes and then set off home - it had just started snowing again (mums is only 5 minutes drive from us). I had already spoken to our neighbour who said that the lane was just about passable but was being cleared so we decided to attempt to drive home. Did so without any problem, got the car unloaded and then it started to come really heavy so Mick took the car down.
He arrived home about 20 minutes later with Emily (little girl from next door but one) and when back out to help her dad. They had been driving down the hill, it started to feel a little slippy so they both got out to take a look and whilst doing so the car slid down the hill and smashed into the wall, jamming itself under the metal handrail. Fortunately they were both fine - their 3 week old car however, was not! So Mick and a couple of other neighbours dug him out and he got the car down the hill.
The lane looks pretty bad now and I don't think much else will be moving overnight.
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!
