Propagandertainment.

This morning we are hearing calls for climate change and environmental issues to become part of every entertainment output from soaps, to films, to children's programmes - even adverts.

For a long time I have been interested in such things, but I am afraid this will not work.

We are bombarded with virtue signalling in the media from multi-culti families, to LGBTQ, racism, sexism, dieting, healthy living and so on. They all have worked - for a short while, but they only have a short shelf life before most of us switch off. Once we have done that we then tend to become anti the message.

Ramming climate change and the environment down our throats at every turn will go the same way. By all means give us information backed up with facts, from both sides, but forget about the subliminal and no so subtle messages, which could lead to more harm than good.

You are right that campaigners have to be careful - a stressed out society like ours can only take so much. Further, campaigners have to be realistic, the banning of petrol/diesel in favour of electric cars by 2030 or whenever being a case in point. Most people cannot afford an electric car, even if they could find somewhere to charge them.

I wonder how long before we will see activists calling for a substantial reduction in air travel?

Meds, you do know they are about to ban wood burning stoves. How on Earth will we cook our veggie burgers and tofu fritters?

As far as acceptable thought and speech go, we are being edged towards becoming East Germaany or the old Soviet Union.

Throughout history we have been told what to think be it via religion or politics, but at least it was up front and 'visible'.

In the modern era it is very subtle, a lot more so. Unfortunately analysis and comprehension of what is being said is no longer taught in schools or even H.E and universities, so a lot more crap gets through. Throw in (un)social media and you have the perfect storm.

This is certainly true but these days there is an incredible amount of venom reserved for those who don't buy into what's being pushed.
For sheer nastiness and sneering this takes some beating.
