Do I dare ask what is left to do next?
Still a fair amount Weka. The fireplace still needs to be done. The joiner said that his mate would be interested in doing it as he loves stone (weirdo). He has been on holiday last week so is going to ring Mick this week (although we are away for some of it). It needs to either be stripped back to the original stone (it has been covered in bitumen over the years) and then we can get the splashbacks inside (stainless steel sheets we have decided) and get James the cooker in.
The baking area needs to be built. Mick is going to build this from bricks with a wooden shelf and a marble work top - it will be at table height, ideal for bread making.
The kickboards need fitting under the cupboards and the cornice on top of the wall units. The under unit lighting needs fitting.
The back door needs a new panel on the bottom and then needs painting.
The room could do with another coat of paint but not until all the other bits and pieces have been done.
The blind needs fitting to the window.
The floor needs fitting but we still haven't chosen what we want. I think we will go for cushion flooring that looks like tiles and I know that the good stuff is pretty expensive. I think we will have run out of money before we get to that so will need to find out how much it is and save up. I would rather leave it as bare concrete with a rug down until we can afford it - if we put cheap flooring down as a temporary measure it will never get replaced!
