On Sunday my wife bumped into a young woman who we know vaguely. Claire, the lady in question, told MrsC that her partner Nick had gone out on Saturday night and got drunk, was still drunk and was now getting ready to go out again.
Nick is in his early 30's. Young men in their 30's married or partnered up, seem to behave as though they were still nineteen and single. Most men of his age in the village are the same.
If you want to be single no problem. But when you get married or move in with someone you have made a commitment to them, surely? Which means settling down a bit and cutting down on the boozing, I would have thought.
I must be getting old because I don't understand this at all.
