What are we reading in March?

I have 4 Lyn Andrews books to read.

All her books are set in Liverpool and I really enjoy them.

(I'm trying to get my 'books to be read pile' down to 30 before mum comes over as no doubt it will be bumped up considerably when she's here!)

Two of my favourite authors have new books out and I've just Kindled them at the full price because I can't wait to read them.

Elizabeth Haynes 'Human Remains' her third after her brilliant first novel 'Into The Darkest Corner' If you are a Ruth Rendell fan then this author is her successor.

Maggie O'Farrell 'Instructions for a Heatwave' her best known being 'The Hand That First Held Mine' Simply gorgeous writing.

Shaz likes a gritty read so 'Human Remains' hits the spot

I'm not reading anything at the moment!

I am listening to Linwood Barclay's Never Saw it Coming and was about to start Thursdays in the Park, which I downloaded onto my Kindle but my mum has almost finished a book which she says is really good (not sure what it is about) so I will pick that up from her tomorrow.

And I have my adoption papers to read!

I'm reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton on my Kindle and am really enjoying it. It's the story of why a 4 year old English girl is found abandoned on an Australian dockside in 1913 and is raised by a docker as his own child - and the consequences this mystery has on the child herself, and her granddaughter in the present....

I love books that slip from past to present then back again - it started when I used to read Alison Uttley books as a child

Then I have How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran, also on the Kindle, I love her writings in the Times and read a bit of this book in Waterstones the other day and it was very very funny - the chapter about childbirth made me go cross-eyed, despite the fact that I've done it three times myself

Debih I've read Thursday is the Par, it's one of those for when you don't want anything at all demanding

I've started my lovely surprise Christmas book on the kindle, Dominion by CJ Sansom. It's an alternative Britain, based on what might have happened if, when Chamberlain resigned in 1940, the next Prime Minister was not Churchill but Lord Halifax, and the British government had then agreed to Hitler's demands.

I haven't been able to concentrate though, you can't read properly when every few minutes Minnie is either doing tiny little yips for more food, or another little noise to go out, or pacing, or standing, panting, looking at you!

I've read all of CJ Sansom's books and enjoyed them all except Winter in Madrid. I'm not sure why I didn't like that one. If you like Dominion Di, you would like Robert Harris's Fatherland. It's on the same theme.

I've just started Reservation Road by John Burnham Schwartz. It was a Kindle daily deal and I'm not too sure whether I'll finish it or not. The daily deals are a good way to try out books and if you don't like it you've only lost 99p.

Oh I've read Fatherland too Paddy, years ago! Fantastic book, chilling but fascinating because of the "what if's?"

I enjoyed Winter in Madrid Paddy, I liked the setting and the Spanish civil war wasn't something I knew much about.
