Every sympathy for the parent who turned up at St Mary's, Kaz, but as far as I'm aware, casualties from the incident were taken to at least four hospitals; St Mary's, Charing Cross, Kings, and Chelsea & Westminster - dependent on their triage. The Metropolitan Police Casualty Bureau set up a helpline as a central contact point to co-ordinate enquiries from concerned family members and relatives.

It's truly horrifying. I think the numbers of deceased are not a given amount until the remains of the building have been inspected. I'm sure there will be more, unless the poor souls have been completely burned

I saw this as I was travelling this week. It's absolutely horrific and should never have happened. From what I saw one apartment was burning and it was under control until the fire made it's way though the window and onto the cladding which went up like a flare. Building cladding should be to a code which does not burn like that. Somebody, somewhere, should be charged with manslaughter over that one. I did hear that those charges were likely.

As someone who has been in two different buildings which were on fire, I really feel for the people who had to face this. I was always in a safe area in daylight. I can imagine how it was during the night and the confusion with no quality alarms to give advanced warning.

As for counting the dead, I know it's distressing for the relatives but the dead are dead, they are not talking about finding anyone alive and there should be no further injury to the fire service to recover the remains.

Someone needs to go to jail for this, clearly good regulations were ignored and it is only when people are ruined and go to jail that changes really happen in situations like this.

On a slight aside, TM is vilified by the voters, under heavy fire in her own party, going to be challenged and removed within the next two years and is trying to put together a working government. I doubt she felt she had much to lose in only visiting the support services. Not a good choice IMO, but hardly more damaging to her.

Nobody will be charged as Osc says. because that cladding was legal. Inflammable, but legal. This is a very good article in the Telegraph and it paints a sorry picture of how we have arrived at the point where a tower block can burn like a roman candle.

It has been known for years that this could, and most likely would, happen. It is appalling.

One major thing noticeable from the Telegraph article is the number of different *Empires* all with their own views and parts to play, but no coordinating oversight group bringing them together. The All-Party Parliamentary Fire Safety and Rescue Group, which should have been that group, singularly failed in that regard.

Another thing is that everything seems to be reactive. Everybody appears to be happy to endlessly discus the possibilities of *what might happen* rather than taking collective action to prevent such events.

One thing has me wondering......

I read an interview in the paper yesterday with a man from Hertfordshire who had family on the 21st floor, who no one has heard of since the fire. He says he drives in daily, walks the streets looking for them. He wants answers as to where his family are.

Its pretty obvious where his family are, sadly they are dead and sadly they may not be identified for a while. Is it a case of not wanting to believe or is it a case of someone being brave enough to actually sit him down and explain the obviously unpalatable truth
