Well the norovirus has subsided but now there is legionnaires! One case in the renal unit :shock: Been up there as per usual this morning but I suppose they would close outpatients if there was a risk, wouldn't they? :o

You should be OK Kaz, Legionella (Legionnaire's disease) is not contagious. The person infected must have caught it off site by breathing in contaminated water vapour. There was an outbreak at Leeds General Infirmary about five or six years ago with about a dozen people infected. It was blamed on a poorly maintained heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit (HVAC) operating at the hospital. HVAC appears to be the most prominent route with modern outbreaks in hotels, office blocks etc.

Having said that I would keep an eye out for updates. If it is an on site hazard some areas might need to be closed. Stay safe. xxx

I think that was more or less what was blamed for the outbreak at Stafford some years ago too Frank.
