I admire your pragmatic approach, Ossie, sometimes things do not come down to squeezing the last penny out of a deal. I hope that your estate agents will be forcefully passing on some of the thoughts you have put on here.

I also like your idea of selling up then renting. The freedom that gives you is priceless. If you are not getting on in one place you can up sticks and move on or just move on a whim.

Renting does have an advantage at times
As long as you have a good landlord

My son is renting g from a company they check the house every 6months as well it is a new build
And had carpets fitted kitchen as well good luck

I've only just read this thread, Ossie.

Selling a house to rent another is something I would never have thought of,
but I can see that there are many advantages in doing so.
I hope it all works out right for you.

Hi, Vic - can I ask when you left Gillingham, was it many years ago? If so, I imagine there'll have been a few changes since .... :D

Absolutely! As for renting, what we intend to do is get a 6 months short-term let, one or two bedrooms, with the option to roll on month by month. That will give us some breathing space to look around and find the property we really fancy - and of course we will then be cash buyers, no chain. If nothing comes up in a reasonable time frame, as you say, WM, we can move on and look elsewhere ...

Short-term rental is a great idea Ossie, it puts you in a fantastic position as a cash buyer when you do find the ideal property :) Mick and I often wish we'd done that when we moved back to Gloucester, we jumped into the Stroud Rd house much too quickly and soon regretted it, then it took us almost two years to sell and finally get this place - which we love! 8-) ;)

Totally understand now, about the pricing - if the higher priced property is bigger and has a conservatory then of course it will command a higher price 8-) ;) :D
