I don't remember ever hearing about King Fu shoes Weka - maybe we had them here but called them something different? What were they like? :? :?:

What ages were the different school stages you mentioned in NZ?

Kung fu shoes had a very thin brown plastic sole and a cotton/canvas upper.

My gosh! I don't believe they still sell them!! These were all the rage here in the late 80's

Primary is from age 5 for 6 years
Secondary is for 2 years
And secondary, otherwise known as high school or college is for 5 years.
Everything happens for a reason

Very strict for me. Standard uniform was grey coat and trousers, white shirt, school tie, grey socks and black shoes, special peaked cap and trench coat for bad weather. Rugger, gym and other sport, house colour shirt and black shorts, white socks, plimsols for gym and boots for rugger.
whites for cricket with white shoes. Swim wear er none it was not done. 8-) I chuckled over the school uniforms in the BBC piece "Some Girls"
Amber wore hot pants. :)
