What do you recon.

I've just sent a mail to the VW environment and sustainability info mail address.

I've used quite a lot of my computer skills to socially engineer it to get someone to read it.

I'm pitching my idea for an engine design which I produced 30 years ago and nobody in the industry is interested in.

What do you recon? You think anyone will get beyond line 5 before they throw it in the file 13? The bit bucket as we call it?

Chances of me receiving an email reply or, even more surprising, a phone call?

All I asked for was one month of a design engineer to bring it to prototype. Now, tell me, even with one foot in the grave, with the regulators sharpening the blade on the guillotine, do you think I was totally and hopelessly optimistic in thinking that a panicking and out of options company might be willing to take my idea and run with it.

Or did I just come in behind the 16 million other people trying to do the same thing and they can't even be bothered to read beyond line 3??

Honesty is best, if I'm an idiot, let me know....

I really hope they read beyond line 5 Suff.

I wish you all the best with your idea and there's absolutely nothing wrong with optimism regardless of age.

Let us know what happens...or doesn't if that might be the case.

You know your stuff Suff, so I'd certainly hope it gets to someone who will at least read it properly :)

File 13, sadly.

You are not part of the in-crowd so you get no interest.

To go it alone and get patents is beyond the finances of most of us. The big boys know that and play to it.

You know that I wish you well, you also know that I think you have a slim chance.

I wish things were different....

I know WM, I think the same. Bit bucket for the mail...

However, it's like the lottery. You actually have to play it to win it.

Patents don't help either. If you don't have a machine shop to make the thing they wear you down with attrition. You have to top up your patent with renewals, I worked for the largest patent renewal company in the world. If you are making nothing out of it, why renew.

It was a thought, a window of opportunity. I did say in the mail that I had nothing to lose and they had everything to lose, that I was in a good job with a good income but frustrated about my idea going nowhere. But if they blew me off then I could sit back and smile as they went down the toilet....

Maybe should have asked them how they would like it being a nationalised company???

They responded...

Very bland and noncommittal, due to the huge number of suggestions, but they did say they have forwarded my email to the correct department for appraisal and action.

Interesting. That, as much as anything, tells me where VW is today.... Well that and the CEO making a public statement to the fact that the VW Group would survive but probably not in it's current form, size or structure.

Well.......my twopennyworth.

There is now a new man at the helm at VW, Why don't you Email him personally and ask for a bit of his time and pitch your design to him personally?????

Worth a try I think.
