Sorry mea culpa, I should have searched harder.

Error 1603 is.

"I'm already installed and I'm not going to install again."

Either you can go and look for it with Explorer and add a link or you can uninstall it and install it again.

Uninstalling it is from

Control Panel=>Programs and Features=>Uninstall a Program (from memory I can't see it on the work environment so if it's wrong please correct me)

Then go find Google Earth in the list and select to uninstall it. Apparently some updates remove the links. Once it's uninstalled you can re-install it and the links should be there for you to click on.

Bit stupid really, all Windows apps are supposed to offer to uninstall themselves if you run the installer again. Not throw out some stupid error and exit....

The thing is that it is not that good for doing what Ton wants to do - look at houses in certain areas. Google maps with Street view on the Internet is much easier and quicker to use. It is also updated very quickly.

Yes, Suff, that was it exactly, we've searched for help and was told it's already installed, but won't open etc etc.

That's when himself got ratty, as this should happen

It's like me telling him how to hang a door    he knows less than me about computers but was telling me what I should do

I will sit and look and try and then come back for help tomorrow.

Sadly not, London for #1 Grandson's 21st but Not that far south.

Probably WM or I could have a look through Teamviewer if you wanted but that's up to you and how fast your broadband is.

Lot me there Suff

Who or what is Teamviewer?

And I have no idea what speed we have here, it comes and goes, especially when the local school starts and at lunchtimes

Because of where we wnt to look, in remote areas of Portugal, mostly, streetview is really not an option.
