I'm surprised you didn't hear me and I live miles away!

7 blocks of cheese!!

All that jam!

They were a lovely family but all joking aside - the amount of cheese they eat really can't be healthy.

Little Freya was sitting munching on a small slab of the stuff as if it was a sandwich! :o

I like this programme. :D :D :D :D

Dare I admit at this point that I currently have 2 chunks of cheddar in my fridge - having finished chunk 3 last night. I dread the day I have no cheddar in my fridge    But then I like certain cheeses and when they're on special I will buy 3 or 4 chunks because the expiry date is quite long

But last nights episode was quite interesting I thought - just goes to prove that people do actually fall for branding and packaging. Personally I always go for price per/kg - litre on most things - I will always compare that vs the actual price of the item and get whatever is cheapest at the time. And quite honestly if I could get most things without packaging I'd be a very happy person. But people like the housewife last night are a marketing persons dream

They spent an astronomical amount on food! And even though they saved them almost £160 a week it still meant that they were spending £160 a week. Have these people never heard of meal planning lists!!!!

I also have two blocks of cheddar in my fridge - plus a small amount of a third block. And a block of parmesan. And a Dairylea cheese spread. And a goats cheese!!! I always buy cheddar in twos - you can usually get 2 blocks for £5. And L only has cheese or cheese spread in her sandwiches every day. So yesterday when I went shopping I bought two blocks to replace the one that was almost finished. Nine blocks of cheddar was rather excessive though (they bought two and already had 7 in their fridge).

I am always amazed at people who go shopping with out a list. I would end up spending a fortune.

We use two blocks of cheddar most weeks - mind you most of that is Becky and Mick   B would live on cheese if she could  I hardly eat cheddar any more, too much fat. I tend to stick to the low-fat cheese spreads :)

£160 is still an outrageous amount  I spend less than half of that, and we certainly don't starve!

I geared myself up for a shouty session last night but ended up PMPL. :P :P :P

£330 a week on food for four! And our resident "ex-spurts" we going to save them £120!!!

They were such a lovely family, but just like Tim - nice and dim. The thing was that she could cook. She prepared some really decent meals, which looked healthy and nutritious.

What really did get me shouty was Mr Wally and his meat. Flat iron steak at £17.60kg (£8lb) and Shin at £8.5kg (£3.86lb) as cheap cuts! Who the chuff is he kidding? Flat iron is what we call top blade up here and is about £7.90kg (£3.60lb). Shin (boned) can be got for £6.50kg (£2.95lb) or as Wally bought with bone in £5.20kg (£2.35lb). I got silverside at Morrisons the other day for £7kg (£3.18lb). The man is a Pope's Eye. ;)

Wow, all that money!!!  I reckon with effort they could have saved them a lot more than that - even with the saving their bills would still be stupid

Still, we enjoyed the shout! :P    8-)

Anybody can save money by changing brands, but the family were over spending on the amount of food they bought. I dread to think what gets thrown away! I reckon it would have not been too difficult to save them £200 a week.

I had to laugh when the 'spurts went to the nutritionist and were saying how difficult it was to prepare a meal for £2.50 a head! She then produced one for four people for under £2.50.
