Saundra, earlier this year, our government brought in a 10 cent per bag charge.

As is normal in this blasted country, they gave us about 4 hours notice

So now, the chemist gives us our stuff in paper bags - as they said, why not cut down more trees, instead of using plastic? (Portuguese logic   ) and the butcher still gives out bags.

We have a plethora of shopping trolleys with Pingo Doce on them   at 9.99 each. Pingo Doce being one of our big supermarkets.

I have amazed myself at how often I can re-use a plastic bag, although I refuse to do it for my Glad bags or the general household rubbish.

Mum's just brought over the best bags ever!!

They are thick (but very pliable) nylon.
You sit them in the shopping trolley and they clip on to the sides and you just put all your shopping in.

They can take the weight of 25kg!!

When finished you just clip the handles together and it folds down flat to no size at all.

They are brilliant! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Ah, I got a similar thing from Clas Ohlson.

They are pretty sturdy and keep their shape once things are in them, and they stop things rolling about in the boot.

Folding them up is a bit like an origami exercise but once you have done it a few times it is easy.

Frank...these just collapse back to their original shape so no need for folding...actually they end up the size of a standard supermarket carrier bag size but with small handles.

They really are good.

And I don‘t do food shopping!!

Ally, for the Ohlson one you turn them upside down and press the middle of the base on its long axis so the long sides come together and it's laid flat. The ends stick out as sort of triangles. These get folded in then in again and again then finally in half. There is a popper to keep it closed. It is about the size of a school exercise book once done.

Or you could just scrunch it up and throw it in another bag.
