on a gift for a baby shower?

it's for someone who is more than an acquaintance but not a close bosom buddy friend. As it is the 'do' is a 1.5 hour drive away (if the traffice is kind to us) and we're meeting up in some posh(ish) place for high tea which is costing us each £25. Another friend of mine is driving and collecting me along the way.

I know I sound stingy, but this is the same person that we ended up spending a small fortune for her hen do (remember the one down in Brighton).

I'm just cranky aren't I?

Ria, when my niece gave birth I got a birthday cup in silver with Em's name and DOB engraved on it - cost less than £25 and I was happy with that.

thanks both - I'm thinking of getting a few baby grows (for a slightly older baby though; as too often everything given is for when it's just born and then nothing for later) and maybe some bibs or blankets

Then when baby is born and we know what it is I'll get some socks from Baby Gap

Yes, the cup probably is more of a close relative idea, but I was thinking price wise.

Baby grows for down the line, with bibs and blankets sound perfect.

One of the most practical gifts we received when the twins were born were towels that you (obviously) wrapped round them when they were bathed but they had an attached hood that kept them really snuggly quickly afterwards.

Given they were born late October they were definitely very useful.

I have since seen little bathrobes for babies but have thought it might be a bit difficult to get wet little arms into.
