What a journey!

Postby Workingman » 25 Jun 2015, 13:20

I promise not to regale you with how much of a spifflingly hilarious time I had over the last few days with a bunch of beautiful women and a few charming chaps. There is enough of that on the Photo Board. ;) :P :P :P

No! I am here for the sympathy vote. :o

The coach stood in bright sunlight as we all embarked, it was stifling, but soon we would be on the move. We set off on time and waited for the A/C to kick in....... and waited. Eventually a passenger went to ask the driver to turn it on. No chance: it was kaput. That left us looking forward to two hours to Manchester with everyone looking for bits of stiff card, mags, papers: anything to make a fan out of.

Now, I said two hours, but that was until the accident just above Stoke. We slowed down, got slower, and eventually stopped for 50 mins. During that time a passenger went and opened the roof vents, aptly named as Emergency Doors. Well it was an emergency, we could hardly breathe. When we eventually got going the breeze coming in was like Heaven.

We got to Mancland about an hour late and just at the start of the rush hour. That meant that when we arrived near Leeds we were hitting the back end of its rush hour. We got to the coach Station 1hr 20 mins late at 6:40 pm. I eventually got home at 7:10 pm.

Between then and going to bed at 9 pm, utterly shattered, I spent most of my time re hydrating: If it was cold and liquid I drank it.

Slept right through till just before noon.

I am now off to add some unedited photos to the Photo Board thread. ;)

Was that Megabus or National Express, WM? Any chance of compensation for late arrival like the railways, or don't they do that?

Thanks everyone.... it was lovely to see you all.

Ossie it was Megabus, but I do not think coach services work to the same rules as the trains. It was not the fault of the company that some boneheaded drove his car and trailer into the barriers. It probably WAS down to the police and their OTT H&S operations that it took so long to clear.
