The letter...

Postby Workingman » 26 Feb 2015, 13:08

..... from the gas networks people informs everyone on our little estate that upgrades to the mains will be underway and that the gas will go on and off. It suggests that we might like to consider alternative methods of heating water or filling flasks with hot drinks and soups. It also requests that we do not park on the roads in the daytime during these upgrades.

What it does not say is when all this will happen. We have to guess that bit.

A phone call to them reveals that work is still 'at the planning stage' and we will be informed of the dates nearer the time it is about to begin.

Time to convert to solar power, WM! :D

Here, we have also had "the letter". We have been assessed, no less, and found suitable for a wheelie bin

When will it come? Sometime, anytime from March. But before July.

In the meantime, we are told, if we cannot contain our excitement, well, there are any number of "wheelie bin roadshows" coming to a shopping centre near you .....

So another letter, no doubt containing the same information plus dates, will be sent in due course Frank?

Ossie, this is from Birmingham City Council who are making cutbacks left, right and centre but who can afford to send members of staff into the shopping centres of the city to show members of the public how a wheelie bin works?

In Leeds! Do be brief.

Yes, Jo, another letter with dates. I know they are trying to be helpful, but it would be better, and cheaper, to wait till dates are known - for digging holes and delivering wheelie bins - and then let us know.

It is all about this chart which shows the way people approach change and how you could manage it in a better way.

Clearly they are well aware that they are crap at change management and want to give you as much time as possible to get to Acceptance..... Or at least resignation which I term minimal bitching.

Wheelie bins. Wonderful. Did they mention the bit about not being allowed to put the bins out the day before, the handles have to face the road, the bin must not be overfull (lid up), you must bring your bin in after the collection as you're not allowed to leave it on the pavement and the bin men will just throw it anywhere anyway as they are on timed runs and it has all be tined to the minute so they have no time to do anything but throw it at the kerb...

Progress and Service Management.... NOT.

Those who understand Binary and those who do not.
