Morning Ally and everyone

Slightly hazy this morning, but hopefully a lovely day :D

We'll be doing down to the village later, to see if our agent is in this morning - Grumpy was happy for me to either ring or e-mail him to terminate the contract, I thought it better to see him face to face, so we'll try again.

Then off to faro, to see this ditzy woman in the stoma clinic and hopefully get some Glad bags. then shopping and also hopefully collect our 3rd time repaired kettle. I'm actually hoping they've replaced it, but this is Portugal  so that ain't gongto happen

And then a sit in the sun and soak up the warmth - I hope

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Morning all - a fairly warm night and start to the day (8 degrees overnight :D ) for me - bliss . Sadly not going to last though...

Ally enjoy the day and the evening; jealous of your Friday's off
Ton, good luck with it all, hopefully you'll have success with all three, but esp the Glad bags. And then enjoy sitting in the sun - again I'm jealous

Usual work day for me so nothing exciting to report

Have a lovely day all. Any updates on the poorlies?

Morning Ally and Ton :) :)

Ton good luck, both with the agent and the kettle ;)

Morning everyone - it looks gloomy as heck out there this morning, but never mind - the bulbs are coming up and Spring is on its way ;) :D

No big plans today, just a walk, so I'll see how the day pans out :)

Have a good day everyone :) xxxx

Morning :)
Dark and damp and pretty horrid out there.

Good luck Ton, on all counts x
Not a lot going on here today either, Bb's here this morning so will galvanise him into helping with a blitz in here. It's hard as he has a lot of work stuff at the moment but I'm sure he can organise it a bit better ;)

Morning all. Its disgusting weather here. But I'm at work eating my porridge waiting for a phone call from the GP.

I hate they way they work their appointment systems. I don't understand why you can't make an appointment in advance any more (well you can, but its about 3 weeks in advance). L has been complaining of a sore throat for a few days now and nothing I have given her has helped so I thought I'd get her in to see the doctor. I was there near closing time yesterday seeing the nurse but they wouldn't let me make an appointment for today - I was told I had to ring at 8.30 when they opened their appointments up for the day. So I rang at 8.30 to be told they were all full - I had been told wrong, I had to phone at 8am. But I could go down for one of the extras appointments - which means just turning up at 11am and sitting there and waiting (taking her out of school and me away from work for god knows how long). I said I couldn't do that - not at all practical - so she said maybe we could arrive at 7am tomorrow morning and wait to see if we could get an appointment then although there was no guarantee that it would be straight away or later in the day. Another completely impractical suggestion so it has been agreed that the doctor will ring for a telephone consultation!!!!

Updated to say - he has just rung me and prescribed penicillin for her. How on earth they can prescribe something without actually seeing the patient I don't know!

Anyway the rest of my day is work until 12pm and then off to adoption services for my appraisal before home to potter.

Debih, I don't get the GP system here in the UK either - it just doesn't work. Thankfully I am a fairly healthy person and haven't (touch wood) needed to see a doctor in absolute ages, but the stories I hear from friends... just make me shudder. My SIL is a nurse and she finds it very frustrating because everything just seems about these darn QoF points that the surgeries need to achieve to get funding; patient care seems to have moved right to the bottom of priorities.

It drives me mad. Fortunately we rarely use the doctors and when I do its usually to see the nurse - who you can book appointments for!!!

If its me wanting an appointment it isn't as big a problem - I'd either be off sick from work so could ring and go down at any time or would be at work and can just nip out as the surgery is only a 5 minute drive away. But when its one of the girls its much harder - I have to juggle my work and their school around as well as sorting the non sick child out.

I have heard that another local doctors surgery does run a proper appointment system so I'm going to speak to my work colleague (she goes to that surgery) to see if that's right and I think I might see if I can move them. I'm not that bothered about moving myself - I like the doctors and nurses at the surgery, just not their stupid system - but it would be so much more practical with the girls if I could ring up one day to make a set time appointment for the next day.

Debbie it's a nightmare - the old appointment system, where you just rang, asked for an appointment, and got one that suited all parties worked so much better :?

Ria we seem to be alternating sunny/gloomy days with each other!! :D

Sorry Ton, I also meant to say good luck with the Glad bags xxxxx

Di I hope you can galvanise Bry ;)  xx

Morning all, it rained quite a bit during the night and we've already had a heavy shower this morning, so it looks as if the day is going to be mixed weatherwise. Today is babysitting day, Kellie is already here and Mr Osc will collect Michael from school at 1.30. Mr Osc had a "discussion" with a woman across the road about the fact that we put our bin across the road for collection, beside her bin and others, outside the house where she lives in a rented upstairs flat. He pointed out firmly that we were putting our (post office) bin there before she even knew that the street existed....she would have been better talking to me ;) The footpath outside our house is too narrow to put the bin right outside. Obviously we knew her as a customer, and she can be a bit - er - moody

That's mad about making a doctor's appointment. It was getting a bit like that at our doctor's too but now they have a walk in clinic every morning 9-10 which is so handy, I've used it a couple of times and it moves along quickly enough. Honestly, it's beginning to look as if you have to plan when you are going to be ill

Have a good day everyone :)
