Next holiday fund

Postby Diflower » 22 Jan 2015, 18:28

I've started the next holiday fund :D

Took a couple of books to London with me - sussed out the right dealers in December, they said they'd definitely have them and price would depend on condition - and I got a fair bit more than I expected :D
Their shops are in Cecil Court, which is all bookshops, and they pay a fortune in rent etc - but can also ask premium prices, so I'm pretty sure I did better than trying to find buyers privately ;) :)

Sadly I don't have an entire library of valuable books, but these were just sitting there on the shelf (I've always known their rough value) and I decided their time had come :D

Well done! I sold a few things on eBay last year that were also just sitting there, and they made a very nice contribution towards our holidays last year. Stuff is just stuff but passports have to be used ;)

This is going in my savings a/c ready for the next one after March Saundra!

You did Osc, and I took note - I really, really must get to grips with ebay.

We all have 'stuff' that's worth something to somebody, it's plain daft having it sitting around.
Having said that, you can of course only sell it once, so it isn't so silly either to have a good look at your shelves and cupboards and think, ooh, that could go towards x one day.
So long as that day isn't one that never comes, eh? ;) :)

Well done indeed :D
30 years ago I bought a lovely 1920's dressing table with a full length mirror. I have been carting it around for years and while I love it, it is time to say goodbye. It probably is only worth a few hundred, but I hope to get something for it, then I can put the money towards a more modern dressing table that I can actually sit down at :D
