Snow

We have lots. At least 5 inches. It started coming about 5pm and has come thick and fast.

I think we'll be walk g S to work over the moors tomorrow and I doubt mum will be going home tomorrow. Unless it thaws pretty quick nothing's moving up our lane for a couple of days.

Sledging tomorrow I think!

I know it can be a problem but I'd prefer it to the rain that's been falling for hours and hours and hours...and hours...and hours

It was the same here yesterday Di, but today is very bright and very cold! Hope the snow stays away, at least long enough for my sis and BIL to get here safely on Monday!

We are completely cut off. A huge tree has come down on the lane making it impassable by foot or car. Fortunately there are little pathways we can go down to get to the village.

I'm currently trying to get through to the council to let them know. Though I think Mick might be heading down with his chainsaw!

Oh dear, Son was driving from here to York yesterday evening, I have not heard how he got on.

It is a winter wonderland here. We have plenty of snow, and there is not a cloud in the clear blue sky, but it is extremely cold in a fairly stiff northerly breeze.

Wow that looks very narrow Debih - is it one car width? What's either side of the walls? Is that the only way to your village?

No snow at all here and none forecast, I'm happy to say. Just really cold and bright today with no wind, lovely

It is only one car wide. On the top side of the wall is woodland belonging to Heughts of Abraham and the lower side is houses.

It's the lane up to our little hamlet. Matlock Bath is actually on the A6 - the man road. As you drive through on one side you have the river and on the other side is steep hillside with houses on. Most of the lanes going up are single track with no pavements.

The part where the tree has come down is one of the wider parts of our lane. We have one section with a house on either side where you can't get anything wider than an old style transit through.

That looks like one substantial tree blocking the road, Debih. It's probably best left to a team who know what they are doing rather than Mick and his chainsaw.

I am not saying that he is not competent, but if owt goes wrong nobody can get in to help and nobody can get out.
