I AM HOME.

Postby Workingman » 24 Dec 2014, 17:34

Firstly I have to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, words and vibes - Thank You all so much.

It has been a bit of a frustrating day to be told on the morning rounds, at about 7:45 am, that there was a possibility I could be sent home only to have to wait till 3:30 pm for the paperwork and meds to be sorted out.

i don't quite know what to say. All the recent blood tests and scans come back clear for BP, diabetes, cholesterol, platelets and clots, so they are the good signs. The not so good sign is that they have not yet pinned down the bug causing the infection. I was supposed to be on a drip of flucloxacillin four times a day, but every time they tried to get a cannula in the site turned red and angry, so they put me on an oral dose. They also put me on the same dose of clindamycin because the flucloxacillin was not up to the job on its own. They are to be taken separately, every three hours, because the flucloxacillin is with food and and the clindamycin is without. Today is the first of seven days and alcohol is to be kept to a minimum. I have to go back on the 29th for scans and also to the day ward on the 30th for blood tests, then they they will take things from there, that all assumes that I continue to mend.

It is going to be a strange old Festive Season without any booze, but then the way I am at the moment I could sleep for England. At least I am still here and not at all 'unwell' in the sense that most of us would understand. Thank goodness for Freeview is all I can say!

So, "Thank You" to you all once again and to wish you "A Very Merry and Peaceful Christmas".

That is absolutely the BEST news all week :P :P :P :P :P
I - and I'm sure everyone else - has so hated the idea of you still being in hospital for Christmas.
Will be keeping everything firmly crossed that the abs do their stuff.

Despite the absence of booze hope you now have a really HAPPY CHRISTMAS
Lots of love

I hope you continue to mend over the next few days, and they get to the root of the problem when you go back for tests.

Also many thanks to Ally for keeping us updated xxxxxxx
