He seems to be very well thought of, but perhaps unproven at senior level.

I'm a member of a football forum which does have some Ipswich supporters on it, so I'll see what if anything gets mentioned there.

EDITED TO ADD: Yes, it has been mentioned:

Kieran McKenna is the new boss at Ipswich.

No, me neither..

Err, isn't it true that for all managers there was a time when they had never been a manager before?

Some former star players turned out be the absolute pits - Shearer, anyone?

Then there were some quite ordinary players who became assistants and then top managers - Jose Mourinho for one - Bob Paisley.

Give McKenna a chance, who knows?

To be fair having been dumped out the FA Cup 2-0 by Barrow and out of the Papa John Pizza Trophy by Arsenal's under 21's he cant do much worse can he?

We just seem to be going through managers like a dose of salts, which wasn't Ipswich at all until Mick McCarthy left and from then on in his words, 'that went well'

Hmmmm….he was first team coach and a comment I’ve heard a lot of both on forums and around where we sit is “what are they doing in training?” with a few extra words thrown in.

We’re all quite confused by Martyn Pert going with him….because none of us actually knew he was at United or had even heard of him until the other day

I've popped that on the Ipswich facebook page.

We drew 1-1 with Sunderland though so pleased with that given our beating by Barrow
