I have a cheap pair of Babyliss strighteners that I never use. My friend said the other day, get a decent pair and you will use them, you need GHD's. Just looked on line and blimey......do I really need GHD's at quadruple the price of the others?

I have had cheap ones and GHD's and I have to say that the GHD's are heads and shoulders above the others.

If mine broke they would definitely be replaced by another pair of GHD's.

I have two pairs, a large pair which cost me £25 and a smaller pair for travelling. I have no problem with either of those. I use a heat protective spray and get good enough results.

Yes MM, GHDs are a must. I had Nicky Clarke ones and Babyliss ones before getting the GHDs for a Christmas present about 6 or 7 years ago (I know it's that long because I got them before I moved here, which will be five years next month!) and my original ones are still going strong! NOTHING works as well as they do - and to me, if the professionals use them then that's good enough for me

I am a complete heathen when it comes to things like this. I have no idea how to straighten my hair to be honest. Does it have to be dry, damp, product on and dry or product on and damp?

I don't know, they just are. Personally I dry my hair thoroughly (having applied smoothing serum first) and then - ideally - section the hair and straighten each section at a time, although on a rushed morning it's usually drag it through the sides and ends at the back and that's it! LOL.

Perhaps it's something to do with the ceramic plates and heat up times, I really don't know but nothing else has the same effect. For me.

Oh and MM, I would NEVER spend more than I have to on ANYTHING.....they were a Christmas gift though

I do the same as Gal when I straighten my hair.

I did get a discount on my GHD's as my friend got them for me - she is a hairdresser.

GHDs are fantastic, I've had them used on me at the HD's, but my hair is so very very very straight that I rarely need to use mine. So mine are cheap ones However if I used them regularly I'd buy GHDs

I still don't think you get any better results, but what do I know!
