The Skirt

If you look with the zoom it has pockets in the front/sides; there's a patch pocket on the back as well, so while it can be dressed up it's quite informal.
So I'd really like suggestions as to what would you wear with it?

I don't have much apart from plain t-shirts (I don't own a blouse!), but do have my favourite doggy jumper which I think will go nicely - it's pale, but with blue on it, and is fairly loose :)
(If that's what I wear later will attempt a pic).
I also have a nice purple cardi with different-coloured buttons and flowery pockets, but nothing I don't think to go under that :?
Bb and his mum gave me some money so I'd quite like to buy something to go with it.

I'd wear a jumper, or cardi buttoned up :) Then knee boots and thick tights - although it could easily be dressed up with a nice blouse and heels.

Di if you buttoned up your purple cardi it would be ok without a layer underneath, but personally I'd put a little vest, and leave the top button or so undone, and maybe the bottom one too, just to give a peek of contrast. Then a knotted scarf?

I'm not sure if you wear polo necks but they would work with this skirt.

Now you see, it is all down to what we would wear ourselves isn't it. If I had that, I would wear a white shirt blouse and a plain navy jacket (fitted not boxy) Navy plain courts too.

I suppose the colour is very versatile and you could wear practically any colour of jumper/top with it if you wanted to be less formal couldn't you? I don't think the purple cardi would make enough impact though. Because of the white/pale fleck/mark something light along those lines for a top would look better, or else go totally bright with the shade of red that suits you best.

Just my opinion of course. Good luck.

The blouse and jacket would be nice if I was going to work but for me would make it all look far too businessy Rodo ;)

Kaz I don't really have any jumpers either, apart from old things to wear with jeans, just the doggy one :?
I do have thick tights and boots and that's what I was planning :)

Cardis I have, but I think as Rodo says the purple is maybe too dark to look right - I do wear them like you said though Kaz, with the top and bottom undone and a t-shirt showing (but don't forget it has to be a high-necked one, not a pretty little vest thing) :) So I might try the purple one but would only have white I think to go under. The neck's too big/wide to wear on its own...
Other cardis are completely plain, a nice black one and a red cotton, but that's a bit big :?
Rodo's idea of a pale top might be a good one, but what kind I have no idea :D

I do wear polo necks but have plain pale grey, dark grey and black cotton jersey, close-fitting - not enough on their own I don't think, they're what I wear under tunic-type tops with leggings/jeggings.
And scarves yes would look nice, but I don't have any with blue in :?
Give me pictures, I need to know what to actually buy :D

Going to have a big trying-on session, it might help work out what I want :D

The polo necks are enough on their own if the scarf is dressy enough - unless you mean not warm enough? :) I don't think the scarf has to have blue in it, a contrast is nice, or a soft grey? :) Scarves are a good investment, I have lots as they can really change an outfit ;)

I know you need high neck with the vests, I have a couple that have a high round neckline, but being sleeveless are a bit nicer under a cardigan than a long sleeve ;)

Trying on is a good idea, try a few combinations to see what you think :)

Right, I do have a few options :)
It does look nice with the doggy jumper, with a plain blue t-shirt under.
Also with the same t-shirt and a cardi I'd forgotten about because it's summery - it's in the last of our 'Spain' pics, can't see it very well but it's very thin and with coloured buttons.

Onto my shopping list is a replacement blue t-shirt, that's the only one I have; it's shrunk, the sleeves are too short and it would look better with a bit showing under the bottom of the doggy jumper ;)
I also have a nice darkish blue almost-sleeveless Monsoon top, long but can tuck in, which looked nice with a silver-grey 3/4 sleeve cardi.
What looked completely wrong were the purple and the red cardis - they're too long and just looked mumsy/frumpy, they need to be waistish-length and fitted, or a jumper needs to be a little bit longer but slightly loose iyswim.
A scarf is needed too - I do have several (ok, 3 or 4) but none looked right with what I have.
And a bigger necklace - my starfish one looks good but short with big beads would be nice.

So that's odds and ends, I'd still like a nice top for it but I do now have a better idea of what will look good with it :)
Thanks for the help, I do need it :D

So I decided the skirt was too big and took it back, they ordered me a smaller one, then an email said it was out of stock...yesterday was about to phone and cancel when an email arrived to say it had been dispatched :D
Collected today and it's perfect, looks much better - definitely snug, but I think it should be.

Went to Peacocks and got a pretty cornflower blue t-shirt, plus this necklace (not necessarily to wear with the skirt, certainly not with the doggy jumper)

And to a newish shop that sells scarves, bags, etc that had 25% off everything, and found a lovely big scarf, pale blue/pale grey/cream, 100% alpaca, and an absolute bargain too, especially as the first one I looked at was £95

Yes I agree, a skirt like that should be snug 8-)

The scarf sounds gorgeous, and I like that necklace 8-)
