Bought a load of lovely broad beans this morning :D

Haven't cooked them for years

Gladys won't be happy with the outer skin, I know, but how long to cook them for? In the steamer?

I tend to remove the outer skin Ton.

I blanch them and then remove the outer skin (it's tedious). Then I tend to steam them quickly.

My absolute favourite way of eating them is with bacon. Fry the bacon and then when it's almost fine throw the beans in. Eat with lovely thick bread.

Oh yum. I think I need braid beans.

I think I cook them for 5 mins or so, but test - and yes popping the skins off is tedious, but I do it too :)
They're so pretty :D

Google Nigel Slater, he does some lovely salads and things with them :)

Well, I cooked them for 12 minutes - probably a bit too long, but I was able to eat the skin :D

I have a brill recipe, which I'm going to try, with beans and black pork and chorizo :D

Thanks anyway xx

I take the strings out, but cannot be bothered skinning them, and I like them 'al dente' so five mins max.

Nigel did crispy lardons with chopped mushrooms and a spoonful of cream with a hint of seasoning into which he tossed the cooked beans - deelish.

I always take the skins off too. I find it quite therapeutic :D

I used to shell peas when I was a young boy. I can never remember not shelling beans. Have never seen them cooked in the pod. I know French beans are cooked this way.
