What do you usually have for breakfast?

Postby meriad » 16 Apr 2013, 10:16

I normally only have breakfast when I get to the office and all I'll have at home is 2 cups of coffee. But this morning I felt a bit light headed and do think that sometimes I should have just something small but nutritious to eat before I leave; and then maybe another something small when I get in. But I don't have time (or inclination) to faff about to cook / prepare anything and I try not to eat too much bread (I usually have refined carbs in the way of rice or pasta for lunch) so am a bit stumped for ideas...

So what do you have - maybe that'll give me some inspiration :D

I rarely have breakfast at home on a work day. Just a cup of coffee and then I have some fruit when I get to work - usually a banana and some melon.

If it is a Thursday or Friday I tend to grab something when I get in from walking the dog and I will very often have scrambled or poached eggs.

Saturdays is usually pancakes as that's what I make the girls (they actually have pancakes most mornings but I never fancy any on a week day for some reason) and on a Sunday Mick usually does a cooked breakfast, although it is more of a brunch.

I usually just have a piece of fruit when I get back from the gym, my first morning drink is my bottle of water while I'm in the gym.

Well when I get back the dog's usually bouncing around, ready to go for a walk, so I don't usually get my first coffee until with my lunch.
Caffeine has no effect on me though so thankfully I don't need it to give me a kick-start

On the days when I have to be in the office, Mrs.O usually rustles up 3 fried eggs on 3 ryvita, or a tin of spaghetti or beans 'n sausage on toast, accompanied by a mug of tea. I walk into work (15 minutes) so its good to have something. But I do need to cut out the toast before too long, as it's not helping the weight .....

Porridge or Granola with natural yoghurt six days a week. But on the seventh day its always, eggs, sausage, bacon, baked beans, mushrooms, tomato, toast and coffee. I used to buy the low fat versions of sausage and bacon but now I buy the Full Fat From The Farm Shop! :P

Rice cakes with either low fat cheese spread or low fat spread and chopped banana. Sometimes for a treat I have granary toast with low sugar apricot jam. When we're away I tend to go for scrambled eggs or omelette :)

Sometimes porridge in winter, but we've rather got out of the habit of it.......

Even a banana on the train would help Ria, if you can't face anything more x
