The inner domestic goddess in me....

is trying to emerge - please note the word trying

For the first time ever I blanched and have frozen runner and green beans. Then hopefully this or next weekend I'm going to try make quince jelly with the copious amounts of quince that have come off my tree. I've never made any form of jelly or jam before so this could be fun :) I've also made and frozen batches of courgette soup (well marrows really and while still tasty should have peeled the outer layer as they are quite thick skinned) as well as batches of tomato sauce / passata to be used for whatever later in the year.

And then last but not least; I'll be picking all the chilli's this weekend to start the drying process to make chilli flakes; this year they should be super hot as the bulk will be scotch bonnets :Hi: :Hi: :Hi:

The good life - that'll be me then

Try a few chilli flakes in one batch of quince jelly - you'll be surprised at how good it is. :o

My sister made some a few years back with fresh chilli and ginger and it was delicious; so I was going to copy that

But I never got anywhere near making the jelly this weekend so will try find the time soon. But what I did manage was the chilli harvest - 2kg of chilli now being dried in the oven  A slow process but oh so worth it in the end
