What a treat!

Today I love Waitrose :D
Just went in for a look at their skin and bath stuff, as they have some ranges with a third off and I still have my birthday money. Didn't fancy it as it happens.

But went down the meat aisle just as the man with the gun was looking for today's date and saw him pick up a half leg of lamb...organic, £14.64.

And he reduced it to...£2.18  :D :D :D
We were going to have chicken curry for dinner - can't remember the last time we had lamb, and it wouldn't have been leg! My mouth's watering already :D

Wow what a bargain.

We love lamb and rarely had it as it is so expensive.

But then I bought a whole one from the butcher for 115 pound (why is there no pound sign on this kindle fire?) And we have it quite regularly now

I've already planned on cooking it at least four different ways :D
Will probably end up with rosemary, lemon and garlic though. I might even do it on top of sliced onions and potatoes...mmmmmmmmm

Debih the galaxy has more than one keyboard, one key is labelled 'sym' I think, and it switches to one with symbols etc. Real nuisance when you're typing and keep needing the ' :)

Remembered a little pot of cream hiding in the fridge so we even get Dauphinoise potatoes :D

Lamb's now gone in the oven, should be able to smell it very soon ;)

That's funny you saying that Di as only on Monday night when staying with my friend, her daughter Charlotte (who has a part time job in Asda before she starts uni) was telling us about how much the food is reduced at the end of the day. :o

And the staff get first dibs whereas they're charged practically nothing for meats.

Jackie has given Charlotte a shopping list.

Reading this has made me feel hungry. I love lamb.

At one time we often used to have a leg of lamb, but the price today is outside our budget. Why is lamb so dear today ?
Wales is full of sheep.

I'm drooling now when I think of freahly cooked lamb chops with their lovely crisp golden fat.

Enjoy your leg of lamb, Di.

I think partly because sheep aren't as stupid as they appear and can only live outside, free-range :)

It's been expensive for a long time, but oh my goodness it was soooooooooo delicious, and cooked exactly right, just a bit pink. We both agreed it would be wrong to overwhelm it with masses of other bits and pieces, so we had:

Lamb, spiked with slices of garlic and sprigs of rosemary. Sat on a bed of sliced onion and a couple of whole garlic cloves, dotted with butter, lemon squeezed over and seasoned with black pepper and a little sea salt. 1/2 glass white wine poured into dish. 20 mins at 220c then down to 160c.
Dauphinoise potatoes, but made with single cream not double, and with a grating of parmesan on top.
A pile of spinach, wilted.
A big pile of spinach, raw.
The jus/juice/sauce, ohhh the juice...put roasting pan on hob, squish all onion and garlic, scrape all round. Fish out bits, add boiling water, taste and swoon :D
I was going mmm...mmmm.....oooh....wow.... after every mouthful :D
