Well the well planned secret up until now has been revealed, the methods to be used to add to existing methods to rid the country of the aged, this has come to light to make way for the millions who will and do require medical attention from all corners of the world deciding to make England and the rest of UK their home.
The elderly and aged will now be sacrificed and "denied life saving drugs" . I am sure we will have doctors who Refuse to watch the elderly die through lack of care and medication when they could regain their health through the necessary drugs.
Another form of euthanasia to add to Pathway and euthanasia that has been secretly carried out for years.

Have looked up the subject on the web, this is mostly about the elderly being denied cancer drugs that we knew about.
The statement was that "Life Saving Drugs are to be Denied to the Elderly and Aged."

The reporting on this subject is a total mess with lots of "according to", "claims" and "studies show" but without any links to anything official.

There are apparently new rules from the Department of Health, but they are nowhere to be found. NICE is getting it in the neck but it has said that it is against the (unwritten) proposals. The University of Sussex and Brighton and Sussex Medical School did a survey indicating that some treatments were more likely to be given to those under 74, but did not claim that it was policy.

It is a story that has been bubbling under for years without any concrete evidence and the NHS has made ageism illegal, yet the DM is passing its version off as fact.

I imagine that there are cases where the clinical team looks at a patient and makes the decision that further treatment would offer no improvement for the patient. That does not automatically make the decision wrong.

Frank.. The elderly are discriminated against here and now. Many have died as a result of being put on Pathway when it was not necessary

Mick's uncle is well into his 70s and has had fantastic treatment in Cheltenham for his lung cancer - second to none in fact, he is doing extremely well with a fair prognosis. I believe it's the same centre you attended Kate?

I don't think these articles are quite fair or the whole picture! Maybe there are hospitals who discriminate, but I have never come across this personally..................

I have read that the Department for Health has a report as yet unreleased, which states that "societal considerations" should be taken into account when treating elderly people.
It sounds as if someone at the DfH is flying a kite to see what sort of reaction the leak gets.

There is no doubt that in many areas of the NHS the elderly are neglected. I wrote in our local newspaper of the 'marvellous
Treatment. My late husband and I received in both Cheltenham and Hereford.. However this is not the same picture throughout the UK.. Thousands of medical notes/ records have gone and go missing, this can affect their treatment .We are lucky in my area I do not know of anyone who has a complained about their treatment. I did complain two weeks ago in the media about the outrageous cost of parking. We have wonderful oncologists. This latest leak is worrying to the elderly, (not to me in particular, )as this not only affects cancer patients but other patients suffering with disorders "that could be improved with the correct drugs"
