What a situation, Kurds escaping flocking into Iraq from Syria by the hundreds of thousands. It has never been easy for these poor people Saddam's downfall was when he murdered a community of Kurds.
How this country will cope with the influx of these poor people I cannot imagine. The shocking amount the billions of Aid thrown at undeserving countries should go where it is truly needed. Iraq for a start that has been destroyed on a pack of lies
It could help settle the poor Kurds men women and children whose suffering is never ending, and ease the suffering of the Iraqi's following B'liars illegal invasion on the country.

The Kurds in Iraq have the most stable region and also have Oil revenues. I know this as my cousin's wife has quite a lot of land there and the family is very important.

Whilst it will be a strain to the region, it won't be like Iranian's flocking into the lowlands. But, you are right, the Kurds have always been persecuted because of their traditional land being split between 3 countries. Aid should be going there but it won't. Because the great powers already have what they want from the Kurdish part of Iraq, namely Oil production and transport.

When the US put in a caretaker government in Iraq, it was heavily staffed with Kurds. This has dropped since the Iraqi's took over, but they still have a full 1/3 say. However it gave them what they wanted and they gave the Kurds what they wanted.....

That is interesting Suff. I know when we lived there skirmishes were going on, do you remember the horrific photo's of the Kurdish women and children that were cold bloodedly slaughtered?
I made some wonderful friends in Iraq, these people are part of a cultured nation, some of the most brilliant scientist's, doctors etc are from Iraq.,
Oil in any country today has become the devil incarnate with nations resorting to any means to exploit the fact.

I remember Saddam's oppression of the Kurds. It was all part of his "Islam against the rest". He also used chemical weapons against the Christians after they rose against him post the first Gulf War.

One of the reasons I don't mourn the passing of Saddam, even if I do bemoan the way it was done in the end and the reasons for it.

I certainly don't bemoan his demise the man was a despot, what I objected too was the invasion B'Liar was part of and instigated when the man could have been taken out
very easily without destroying the country and creating the misery we are witnessing today.

Iraq seems to have descended into sectarian warfare. Every week there are more car bombings and murders.

Terrible Cromwell, a tragedy, creating deaths daily, innocents being murdered and killed by factions of faceless individuals
What is happening was predictable. Sad to see the death of a nation.

Iraq was a hodgepodge of nations held together by Saddam. Yugoslavia was another state held together by communism until it fell.

When a regime ends, especially a brutal regime which carried out acts of aggression on it's people, the change in regime leads to people vying for power. In the Islamic world this is complicated with religious violence and extremism, all mixed up with money and power.

A mixture made in hell for the citizens.
