Perhaps there is something we could import from Egypt

They have lived it and they "get it".

Now if we can duplicate it on British streets where the Sharia Law signs stand, then perhaps we would be as "Forward Thinking" as the Egyptians....

Hard to argue that the Egyptians are "Anti Moslem" or "Racists" isn't it. Perhaps they'll just export their extremists to Britain???

Whatever happens, it has to be a real blow to the attempts of the Moslem Brotherhood to unite all the Islamic states under one Religious government.....

The problem with fundamentalism in any religion is that they believe there is only law and one truth and that is God's, or Allah's or whoever.
Any contradiction of God's law is a blasphemy, any person who does not believe is a lesser person.
Which goes against a pluralistic democracy in which other views are acceptable.

Yep but it is put over that only the Western democracies disagree with this principle and are decadent and disgusting as a result.

In fact, what is being put forward is a mutilation of the truth to a point where it bears no resemblance to any truth, or sanity.

But is that not what religious fundamentalism is? Otherwise how could we reconcile "Turn the other cheek" with the Spanish Inquisition....

I am not sure what to make of it.

The people rose up to overthrow the rule of a Dictator. They then had what was accepted as a free and fair democratic election and voted for an Islamist party. That party/President then changed the constitution to one which was as undemocratic as that of the Dictator. Now that President has been ousted in a Coup a new constitution is being drawn up..... another undemocratic one.

Maybe Egyptians simply do not like democracy.

Maybe they learned that there are worse things than a dictator.....

I am seriously coming to the conclusion that maybe democracy is beginning to lose its status,
and that, given the right person, a dictatorship might be a better form of government.

Our democracy in this country is being eroded by the day. Time the indigenous stood up to be counted (but it wont happen) I think the majority in this country are spineless It is "anything for a quiet life"
