Just back from seeing my Dr. he said he will see me again in July IF he is still there.
I asked if he was thinking of retiring and he said no but the surgery has let 2 Dr's go and he doesn't know if he will be let go.
The reason they were let go was because of N.I.
So thank you Starmer for making it harder to get appointments.
Absolute waste of space this govt, couldn't run a bath let alone a country

You are doing it again, Vic, putting politics on Café.

Put these things on the Health or News boards or wherever and you might get some replies.

I do understand your frustration with the government and NHS, but Café is for fluffy stuff. Thanks.

Sorry Vic, I rarely "pull rank" on here, as VV is a friendly place, but twice lately I have asked you NOT to put politics on Cafe, and I have had to move it.

It's getting very annoying!

I suppose it depends where you are.

My surgery is well staffed - doctors, nurses, admin and reception - it is well run and we appreciate it.

However, GPs are self-employed so N.I. has nothing to do with them being "let go", that is nonsense. Your doctor lied to you. It is the doctor's choice to leave or retire; sod all to do with Starmer or running baths.

I wouldn't know if my current practise is staffed with doctors or not. I know the last one was but in the last 4 times I asked to see the doctor I was given the staff nurse.

That happened to me again in this practise.

I have a problem with my foot. I'm not going to waste any time with playing the doctor lottery, I'm going to a podiatrist. We'll go from there.

I seem to get good ervice from my surgery.

I get annual tests for my eyes, my fet are checked, blood tests. The odd occassios I wanted to see a doctor, I have had an
appointment within a day. It may be becauase of my age and I am diabetic.

They have tried to get me to use an app on my mobile phone. But I have said I cannot do that unless someone is sat at the side of me to
show me what to do. They do send me texts to confirm appointments.

I can order repeat precriptios online. Pick them up twodays later from the chemist.

Our surgery seems to be moving towards a do-it-yourself model NHS.
I have been offered a diy kit to provide a sample to test for bowel cancer, to supply my own blood pressure readings and another home kit to provide a urine sample to check for kidney damage.
I'm looking forward to receiving through the post a diy kit to perform a home knee replacement; I hear they even chuck in a spare packet of paracetemol and some elastoplast.

Self Bowel screening has been on the go as long as I can remember.

My BP screening they want me to do it as they know I have a machine and I get slighly different readings to the "go into the surgery and read me".

My last blood tests were a clown show because it happened when I was changing surgery. The old surgery booked the tests but cancelled them when I switched surgery. The new surgery booked me a meeting to review the results, taking over correctly but, of course, there were no results.

I brought in my own results from my own private blood tests I had paid for.

I had a real performance with ask my GP when I changed. Nobody clearly told me that I had to go to the old surgery and get them to deregister me so that I could register again with the new surgery. I incorrectly assumed this would be part of hte process. My systemonline is still pointing at the wrong surgery but the nhs app allows me to request my medication from the correct surgery.

I'd say they get a 1 out of 10 for effort and a 2 out of 10 for execution. If the NHS app allows me to do what I need with my prescriptions I'll bin systemonline.
