Magna Carta attack.

Two women in their 80s were charged when they tried to destroy the protective glass case.

Why FFS? What has the Magna Carta to do with 'Just Stop Oil'?

There they are in their polycotton T shirts, acrylic jumpers and plastic trainers before going home to their mixed fibre (polyester) carpeted flats and their foam filled comfy chairs with their bottles of wash-up liquid, bleach, shampoo and toothpaste etc. - all made with the base ingredient: oil.

We cannot do without oil, but we can stop burning it. "Just stop BURNING oil" would be a more appropriate tag line.

Nuclear power stations, more renewables, EV's both busses and cars, mass public electrified transport, heat pumps.

Yep all those things. All the things which are challenged over and over again.

Environ"mental"ists.

Nuclear I have no problem with, not even slightly. Renewables? We have thrown all our eggs into the solar and windmill baskets and they are environmentally damaging in their production, operation and disposal. There are other alternatives, yet they are ignored, and that does irk me. EVs, of all kinds, are nowhere near there as yet and it will be decades before they are. Heat Pumps? Millions of homes cannot use them. That might change but like EVs it is years away.

What I was pointing out is the hypocrisy of the Just Stop Oil protesters. If we did manage to stop oil where will our clothes, shoes, furnishings, paints, ready meal trays, drinks bottles and on and on and on, come from? Just have a look around any supermarket, home or office and look at all the plastic. Yes, we recycle some of it, but the basic feedstock is - new oil.

JSO extremists cannot see it. They don't realise that there is not enough leather, wool, cotton, glass or wood to replace it all... and if there were the vegans would be up in arms.

Stop burning it as best we can I agree with, but just stopping it is nonsense.

I am increasingly of the opinion that some of these people are hysterical narcissists.

Step changes. Step 1 stop burning it. Agree. Whether we need to be doing steps 2-5 at the same time? I think so but most don't.
