Welsh farmers

The Welsh government are trying to make Welsh farmers give up 20% of their land. 10% for "wildlife habitat" and 10% for woodland.
What could possibly go wrong, taking 20% of farming land out of production?

The deeper thing though is the whiff of authoritarianism. "This is what we want you to do. We know we don't own this land, but we have the right to tell you what to use it for".
There's rather too much of that attitude about.

What the authoritarian politicians don't realise is that the land is ours, not theirs, nor the Monarchy's, Lords, Earls or Barons. Ours! It should be nationally owned by the people and not by conglomerates nor the ancient privileged.

However, farmers should be made (persuaded) to use it productively for all of us. If that means subsidies, so be it,

And let's stop supermarkets ploughing back perfectly edible produce because it does not meet their 'perfect' size, shape and looks. We waste ever so much edible food because of them.

Saw a recent TV nes item where a tennant farmer may lose his land as theowner want to put solar panles on it. Do they not think about the lose
of food production when this happens. Nogood having electricity if you have nothingto cook.

Cruiser, I mentioned that in my Solar Power thread. The UK only produces about 55% of the food it needs but the politicians do not seem to care. Local Net-Zero is their new religion.

Come on when did politics ever have to make sense. The current president of the US has been judged unfit and unable to stand trial because he cannot orientate himself in time and is confused.

Yet that same President is #1 candidate for the Democrats and a shoe in to win the nomination.

Gets closer to the Labour Donkey every day. No wonder we get decisions like this.

I've been telling the Environ"mental"ists for decades that you can't simply FORCE people to comply. You have to give them viable choices and then make it uncomfortable for them to pick the one you need to get rid of.

Many MPs and local councillors are returned with less than 50% of the voters in the constituenty voting.

So over 40% of the voters may not have voted and get the candidate they do not want.

THen they complain about whatis happening.
