I support Israel, and always have, but come on!

Moving 1.1mn people from Gaza in the north to the south in 24 hours was always impossible. And cutting off food, water, medicines and fuel is reprehensible.

There are seven routes from Gaza city to the South - not two as the media claims. If all were running at capacity the flow through would be 6,500 per hour - 109 per minute, almost two per second. The aim was never achievable. I cannot suport this,

Some way has to be found to stop this. Not all Palestinians in Gaza are Hamas supporters.

It also looks as though Israel is creating a sterile zone between it and Lebanon in order to not open up a second front between what Hezbollah and Iran want.

This is not going to end well.

No it is not going to end well. But the 24 hours are over and still no attack. Water is back on in the south of the country so double incentive to move south.

It is not helped by the car bomb Hamas set off on one of the roads, killing 70 people, to try and stop them going south.

As for cutting off fuel, diesel can be remanufactured into an anfo bomb.

Medicines? I'm a bit more ambivalent about that but Hamas would most certainly secure the lions share for themselves. Better to force the population south away from Hamas and then close the gap and allow aid in with the separation between North and south secured.

So far Hamas has done everything you would expect of a terrorist organisation. So far Israel has done less than the US did in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Israel is not enjoying this. But they are grimly determined to see it through and end the senseless slaughter. I keep reading about ethnic cleansing. In fact Israel is determined not to but if Hamas is determined to use human shields and if the people are determined to let them, then they have no choice.

Water is on in the south but limited. Why can Israel be sure that they can bring water to the south and not help the north? Because Hamas dug up the interconnecting pipes and used them to make rockets and rocket launchers to terrorise Israel.

Go figure.

I am going by what is said in the MSM from the West, Israeli supporters, apparently. - Gaza hospital attacks, schools etc - widely available to all. The proof of your claims? X and other echo chambers?

I do support Israel, but I am not blind to its behaviour in this case. A right to defend itself, YES, to persecute innocents, NO.

Not all Palestinians are Hamas / Hezbollah supporters, you do know that?

That idiot Madeley on GMB doesn't seem to realise that, Frank. He actually asked a British MP of Palestinian ethnicity they were interviewing if she'd had prior knowledge of the initial Hamas attack! https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/news/r ... 30931.html

I wonder how many innocent civilians were killed during the second world war as both sides were bombing etc.

It's unfortunate but cannot be avoided .

The TV coverage has changed, as it was always going to.
They are back on form now, fulminating about international law and how Israel should act proportionately, and how there should be a "humanitarian ceasefire".

There wasn't any mention of international law, proportionality or ceasefires when Hamas burst over the border, raping, mudering and kidnapping.
UK media bias is off the scale.

I agree, but that is because Israel is the only side lisenting (to governments). The only side able to be persuaded using current methods.

What is needed is a back door to Hamas, and the only country able to do that is Iran, but it shares the Hamas doctrine so it will not help.

I am also minded to think that what the UK media says will influence Israel not one jot. It is for our domestic consumption to make us feel as though we are caring and have some influence - we don't - not with either side..

i was trying to remember all the peace talks held between Israel and it's neighbours over the years. Lots of them, and none of them have lasted.

Yes, but let's not fall into the trap of believing that the Palestinians were always to blame for the failures, Israel played its part as well.

Building Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, criticised by it own allies, poked a stick in the wasps' nest. It is unnecessary but still goes on. Like it or not, Palestinians will never accept it.
