This cannot go on...

Postby Workingman » 19 Oct 2022, 17:25

Suella Braverman has now quit, and boy did she stick the knife in. That's the good news.

The bad news is that Grant Shapps, another lightweight and talent free zone, is now the Home Secretary.

The Cons have gone through the bottom of the barrel and are now scraping the shithouse floor. Eventually they will get to Chris Grayling or Nadine..

It has to be time for one of the other parties to call a motion of no confidence in the government. It will have to be that way as the Cons do not really have a way of removing the simpleton, Truss.

The country needs saving from this version of Conservatism. The Tory party MPs and its members are now split. Nobody wants Truss. The country needs a working government and the current occupants need flushing down this broken toilet bowl.

Little point in tabling a no-confidence vote, it would never succeed. Look at tonight's farcical proceedings.
I'm not sure how we are going to get out of this limbo.

A few no confidence votes might not bring down a government, though they did for Jim Callaghan in the 70s, but they will weaken it. A series of them from different parties might do the trick, though.

We can hope.

To be honest I think when a determined group within the Conservative Party, aided and abetted by the media, plotted to topple an elected Prime Minister for reasons best known to themselves, they were on a very slippery slope with regard to democracy. They did it once and it seemed to work in their favour, so why not do it again, or even again for that matter. It's a fine old mess now and It all leaves the electorate wondering why they even bothered to vote.

They think they are protecting their asses at the cost of the party. What they are doing is digging their own grave. Now I'm back a letter to the party chairman is in the offing. Explaining that with this performance a once in a lifetime protest vote to Labour is in the offing.

I usually take party membership before an election to fund them. That's up the Kyber too if they don't sort themselves damned quick.

No matter who is PM and in power the problems will still be there.

So it will need someone who is strong, Knows how the finanacial markets operate, and is poular with the working people as well as MPs.

It is going to be a rough ride whoever gets/takes the job.

I don't think that person exists Cruiser. But you are right, whoever gets the job is in for a tough time.

The PM doesn't necessarily need to know the financial markets. The Chancellor does and needs to be able to explain the impacts of any policy decisions to the PM so that the PM can decide whether they want to go with those policy decisions and, if they do, what to do about the resistance to them (if any).

If you want to know what having a technocrat in power does you just have to look at Italy and their latest election.

Well on a brighter note, the winter fuel allowances are being sent out. We got ours today. We usually get £100 each but this time we got £300 each.

Glad we received it before musical chairs started and everything changed again.
